Typewritten copy of an autobiography. Drusilla married James Hendricks (1808-1870) in 1827. They joined the Mormon Church in 1835 and lived with the Mormons in Clay County, Missouri and Nauvoo, Illinois. They migrated to Utah in 1847 where they lived in Salt Lake City, Springville, and Richmond.

Photocopy of a typed history of Stephen Markham by Julina Markham Crow. The item gives an account of Stephen Markham's personal life as well as his involvement in the early history of Mormonism. This includes his close association with the Mormon Prophets, Joseph Smith (1805-1844) and Brigham Young (1801-1877), his participation with the initial Mormon pioneer company of 1847, and his involvement in the settlement of Utah.

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten biography. Thomas Ephraim Thornton was born in Canada in 1835. His family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1837. The family later moved to Nauvoo, Illinois. He migrated to Utah in 1852 and married Priscilla Covington in 1856. They had 11 children. He resided in American Fork, Utah, where he died in 1918.

William Huntington diary and autobiography

Scope and Contents Handwritten diary including a retrospective account of Huntington's life. Huntington writes about his early life, his conversion to the Mormon Church, and his experience as a Mormon in Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois. He also writes about the death of Joseph Smith, the first president of the Mormon Church, service in the Nauvoo Legion militia organization, and preparations of the Mormons to migrate to the mountains. Elias Hutchings autobiography

Scope and Contents

Handwritten autobiography and photocopies of the item. Hutchings was born in New Hampshire and lived later in Vermont, New York, Ohio, Iowa, and Illinois. He was baptized a member of the Mormon Church in 1830, participated in the "Zion's Camp" march of 1834, served on a mission to New York and Pennsylvania, and personally knew Joseph Smith (1805-1844), first president of the Mormon Church. Hutchings died in 1845 in Nauvoo, Illinois.

Handwritten "bill of exceptions" and a printed legal notice. The bill is dated Oct. 13, 1854 and regards the case of Warren vs. the Icarian Community. The notice, which is entitled "advertisement," is dated Dec. 25, 1852 and appeared in the Nauvoo Tribune published by the Icarian Autographic Establishment.

Official records of the Icarian Community in Nauvoo, Illinois in 1850 and 1851. They were produced under the authority of Etienne Cabet the leader of the community. They include a "constitution" of the Icarians on how members may enter and leave the community, an autobiographical statement by Cabet that defends the Icarians and the reason for establishing them, seven addresses to the Icarians by Cabet, and "Reviews" of Icarian activities in 1850 and 1851."
